What to do in Southern Oregon4 years ago
The Ashland section of the Pacific Crest Trail is a great moderate hike year round. The biggest challenge can be the elevation if you aren't used to it.

It is an amazing trek from Mexico to Canada going through the COW states California, Oregon, Washington. It is a gorgeous trail and I believe it is the longest in the world. You can break it down into days and use your car, if you start from say, LA. At first it is gonna be a long drive like 3 hours but it will start getting less and then more again. You go through Julian on the trek so be sure to get the apple pies.

I hiked this Trail in 2001, and found it to be very very long. Does it really need to be this long? Wouldn't a nice 3-mile loop around a scenic Lake be just as nice? Avoid this Trail if you don't like hiking long long trails.
