Breathtaking ! Wish I had more time on the west side of Kauai to go on more of the trails along the canyon. The Overlook is nice but also packed with tourists. Definitely worth your while and truly is the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific.”

Beautiful area to enjoy on your visit to the island. We drove up early to avoid the crowds and there’s less haze early in the morning. You’ll see what I mean if you go up there in the afternoon or late morning beautiful views at multiple places you can just pull over on the side of the road here and there and then once you get up there, there’s quite a few nice hikes that you can go on many of them are easy.

Waimea Canyon State Park is a very beautiful Park and so high up in the mountains!
The views are spectacular like everywhere on the island and you can't go anywhere without wanting to take pictures of everything! We definitely recommend renting a car and driving up to the top of the mountain to view everything. You just have to pick a good day otherwise it's cloudy and it's hard to see a lot from the top!

Amazing magical place. Feels very spiritual and peaceful even the wind can be strong and cold. There are several lookouts along the way, some have nice parking area orhers just off the road. Its better park safe spot and walk little. It wasn't very busy end of April/Early May.

The views are nice, didn’t do any hiking because it’s quite wet and cold in December. If you get there early it’s quiet and you can decide if it’s worth paying the fees for 10 minutes worth of viewing. It’s a long drive up there, not an outing I’d do twice.
