We went to see the arch at sunrise. Be sure to get there early so you don't miss it, get there before the crowds and can have a spot to park. We got there about 20 minutes before sunrise and there as already about 20 people there. It is an amazing view. Be patient. There will be plenty of time for everyone to get good photos even in a big crowd.

Very neat, yet rather short hike to this beautiful arch! This arch was more crowded for us than Delicate arch was at Arches. There was a civil crowd at the perfect picture taking station, everyone offering to take pictures for everyone else. On the Northern side of the arch there is a scramble that gets you pretty amazing photos as well. I would say this hike would be very easy for just about anyone. I noticed that not a lot of people were actually utilizing the loop on the way back, which was actually our favorite part of the hike as there were placards that named out the local vegetation that dares to grow in a Utah desert! We were there to enter the park around 9:00 a.m. on a Friday in late September and it seems like we barely tapped our brakes it seems. When we were leaving, the estimated wait was somewhere between 20 and 30 minutes. Word to the Wise, and also to help your fellow man.... Buy your entry pass in advance, and take a screenshot. It surely does make the entry process quicker for everyone (not only you, but the 40 or 50 cars behind you).

Great sunrise, but way too crowded during the Summer (one photo shows the crowd, the other is what it should look like if the crowd wasn't there). Worth having to wake up and drive/hike in the dark to see!

Stunning spot for sunrise! Even on a Sunday in November, there was a nice little crowd for sunrise and the parking lot was nearly full. Also, it is a good maybe 10 minute walk to the arch from the parking lot, so allot for that if you're making sunrise. I recommend taking a little breakfast up there with you to continue enjoying the sunrise before heading out. Canyonlands is $30 entry fee per private vehicle, or $80 for an annual National Parks pass.
