This is such a great park. Lots of picnic tables to have a picnic. They have restrooms here in the building by the parking lot. The sand dune is amazing and the sunset view from here is excellent. You will be walking in sand! With or without shoes is up to you. Several people had dogs, there were lots of children. Plan to spend at least an hour here. We went today (12/28) and it was not crowded at all. A must see attraction if you are in OBX.

We had a fantastic time at the sand dunes! They were absolutely beautiful, with stunning views and endless stretches of soft sand. Our two young boys loved exploring the area, running around and climbing up the dunes. It was the perfect place for them to burn off some energy while we enjoyed the scenery. We spent a few hours there, and it was a wonderful family outing. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience natural beauty!

It's always a great place to let the kids burn off energy. There are plenty of beautiful open spaces. There is a nice visitor area with bathrooms and drink machines. There is a mobility friendly lookout deck with seating if you are not up to going out on the dunes. This is always a family favorite.

I have been going to outer banks for a while and for some reason never stopped here until last summer. This is by far one of the coolest places to visit in OBX! Giant dunes for miles that you can hanglide over or slide down. I went to the visitor’s center and learned that you can even find fulgite lying around from when lightning hits the sand. I’m definitely going to be making this place a yearly trip! The picture I took don’t do it justice because it truly was a sight to see
