This a unique educational opportunity to visit a world-class observatory in a dark sky. The night program gives you the opportunity to observe the night sky and see a spectacular view of the sky. You have the opportunity to view the stars through one of the telescopes. In addition, it is educational in nature. The drive up and down the mountain is an adventure in its own right. Make sure you dress warmly as you will be at an elevation of 7000 feet.

I participated in the Dark Sky observing program and it was such a great experience. Lorelei and Jim were both great! We had 8 people in our group and we got plenty of time at the telescope. Jim was engaging, very knowledgeable, and kept everyone entertained in-between observing. The only slightly disappointing part was the size of the telescope used for the Dark Sky Program (16 inches), but they are currently building a 24 inch telescope!
I'm not sure if they plan on using that for the observing programs but that would be really neat. Despite the smaller size the quality of the optics was great, and coupled with the dark sky on the mountain I have never had a better view of M13 before. We also got a great viewI would highly recommend the Dark Sky Program to anyone interested in astronomy!

My boyfriend and I attend their nightly observing program, and wow, we were blown away! It was my first time visiting, his second, yet he was still in as much awe as me! We saw Saturn with its rings, Venus, a dying star, clusters, galaxies, nebulas, and more. Lorelei, Kathie, and Jim were all such warm and welcoming guides. They all made the experience such a great time. I can’t wait to visit again.

Stopped here on a whim and came just in time for one of the day time tours. Had an amazing time and learned so much (shoutout to David)! The views were insane!!

If you like looking up to the stars and planets you are going to love Kitts Peak tours! We saw Saturn, Jupiter, Venus and mars. Each of our hosts were incredible and very knowledgeable about all of the solar systems. Vincent and his team are personable and passionate about astronomy and it shows. A must see event for all.
