Just spread my friends ashes here. And what can I say? Absolutely magical area. The lake was down but the red sand was absolutely amazing.

Honestly, it's one of the best lakes in Colorado! Nestled in the mountain, the views are spectacular. The swimming area is great between the soft sand and barely any rocks it's perfect. Also a great place to fish and camp.

Beautiful lake. The Sundance trail is gorgeous and made for a fun trail run 3mi each way. Quite muddy in spots due to recent rain but easy enough to stay dry since much of the trail is rock. Very quiet on the trail for a Wednesday morning- only passed a handful of people both ways. Such pretty views of the lake, small water falls, flowers, and more the whole way. Water level is pretty high again due to rain and makes for very cool scenery... worth the little extra drive out of town to visit. Don't forget your parking pass!
